In the current phase of technological revolution, innovations have become a part of every day life for humans. Every now and then we hear the advancements happening across the sectors. Seldom we hear about developments and innovations in education, especially in early years of learning. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. It is a method of education wherein the subjects are taught in coherence instead of in isolation. It emphasizes on bridging the learning gap by putting the children at the core of experience, making them active learners from passive listeners

STEM is not just an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics but an education method that integrates all these subjects.

It addresses the concerns that these disciplines or subjects are often taught in isolation while the fact is that they are all intertwined. It is a cohesive inter-disciplinary approach based on hands-on learning.

STEM based learning can and should start as early as five years of age. In the early years, kid’s brain to knowledge is like a sponge is to water. Learning pace of the kids in initial 5 years is unprecedented and cannot be the same ever in life again.

Quite often, our kids are only exposed to the end-user part of technology. Most watch YouTube, play video games, play on their smart phones and download music from Alexa, but what if we could teach our children to create new technology that will catapult them into digital old age with ease?

Learning to code is just like teaching a child a new language.

If you start introducing complex skills, such as computer coding, to kids whilst they are young, they’ll consume it quickly, utilise it flexibly and continue to foster it for decades to come.

Abacus is a tool that works with your sensors to create a picture memory, through process and order, thereby, helping a child visualise numbers and related calculations. At each stage, a child progresses and with practice, the child’s ability to do mental arithmetic increases as does the speed and accuracy. This results in increased confidence and a passion for maths.

Studies have shown that the children who have used the Soroban abacus in their past could perform arithmetical calculations more quickly and comfortably when they are grown ups. This is due to the fact that they have the golden rule of calculating long figures with the help of broken packets of that figure in their minds and it allows them to perform more conveniently in the later stage of their life.

Children between the age range of 5-14 years can enroll in these programs.

Student of all ages and maths proficiency are welcome to start their Abacus learning at any age or learning level. Any child who is able to promptly recognise and write numbers from 0 to 9 can start learning. Ideally the child that knows how to read and write their numbers 1 to 99 fluently is a good candidate for being introduced to Abacus math. In our experience 4+ (closer to 5) years is a good age since at that age they have the motor skills to manipulate the Abacus with confidence.

Absolutely not. When your child starts at Gem kids academy, we provide a complete kit including the Abacus. As a parent you do not need to learn the Abacus to help your child succeed. We only request that you commit to carving out time for your child to focus on doing their homework.

We are focused on each child’s personalised learning and encourage him/her to do their homework independently so we can assess their skills and identify where they may need help. We only request that you commit to carving out time for your child to focus on doing their Gem kids academy abacus homework and encourage their learning journey.

At Gem kids academy abacus your child will rediscover math. Our abacus focussed teaching helps your child to be confident and most importantly , enjoy math.

Yes. Focus , persistence, time management, organisation and self driven accountability are key to your child’s success in the classroom and beyond. Gem kids academy parents see their children be more engaged with their homework across subjects, better prepared for tests and be overall more confident and successful than their peers.

Abacus training differs greatly from that of traditional mathematics. Lack of ability in traditional math does not predict any less success in the program.
